OCA Tours through Red Carpet Country

The 18th Annual Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Association Summer Ranch Tour will take place on June 22-24 in Northwest Oklahoma, Red Carpet Country.  This land, once owned by the Cherokee Nation was part of the largest and the last great land run in American History.  We will be visiting ranches rich in history as some are operated by the great grandchildren of the participants who claimed land on September 16, 1893.  This year’s tour will take you through the wonderful Red Carpet Country and highlight the people who still share the values of those who settled the land.

The summer tour is an opportunity for OCA members from all over Oklahoma to visit the operations of fellow cattlemen, build relationships and learn from each other.  Tour participants will have the opportunity to visit 12 premier beef cattle operations in Northwestern Oklahoma over the course of three days while viewing the geographic diversity of the area.

Hosting ranches on Sunday are Purvine Farms of Fay, Okla., Allen Moss Herefords of Vici, Okla., and the New Woodward Livestock Auction in Woodward, Okla.  Our evening meal will be hosted by the New Woodward Livestock Auction and is sponsored by the Northwest Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Association.

Ranch stops on Monday morning include Hardy Angus of Woodward, Okla., Buffalo Feeders of Buffalo, Okla. and Luddington Cattle of Freedom, Okla.  Lunch is hosted by Luddington Cattle and sponsored by the Woods County Cattlemen’s Association.  Hosting Ranches for Monday afternoon include the Gerloff Ranch of Freedom, Okla., Redgate Cattle Company of Waynoka, Okla. and the Mt. Heman Ranch of Belva, Okla.  The evening meal will be hosted by the Mt. Heman Ranch and sponsored by Dow Agro Sciences.

The first stop on Tuesday is the Southern Plains Range Research Station of Woodward, Okla., then to Cox Farms of Mooreland, Okla. and Vanderwork Herefords and OK Angus of Taloga, Okla.  Lunch will be hosted by Vanderwork Herefords, served by Farm Credit of Western Oklahoma and the beef provided by Cattlemen’s Choice Feedlot of Gage, Okla.
